Sustainability & Community Impact
At Prompt Engineering Bali, we believe that building a forward-thinking technology education company comes with a profound responsibility to protect the environment and uplift the community that hosts us. Our approach to sustainability is guided by the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which emphasizes harmony between people, nature, and the spiritual. This principle is woven into every aspect of our operations, from our supply chain to our community engagement and environmental policies.
Environmental Commitments
We are dedicated to minimizing our ecological footprint and actively contributing to the conservation of Bali’s unique natural heritage.
- Carbon Neutral Operations: We calculate the carbon footprint of each workshop, including participant travel, energy consumption at our venues, and our own operational travel. We then purchase high-quality carbon offsets from certified Indonesian reforestation projects, such as those managed by Trees4Trees™ in Central Java, to ensure our operations are fully carbon neutral.
- No Single-Use Plastics: We enforce a strict no single-use plastic policy at all our events. We provide participants with reusable water bottles, and all our partner venues are contractually required to provide filtered water stations and use non-plastic alternatives for all catering and service items.
- Support for Marine Conservation: A portion of every workshop fee is donated to the Coral Triangle Center in Sanur, Bali, supporting their work in marine conservation, coral reef restoration, and sustainable fisheries management in Indonesia, the global epicenter of marine biodiversity.
- Sustainable Sourcing: Over 80% of the food served at our workshops is sourced from local, organic farms in Bali. This reduces food miles, supports the local agricultural economy, and provides our guests with fresh, healthy meals.
Community Empowerment & Social Responsibility
Our goal is to be a positive force for economic and social development in our local community.
- Local Employment and Fair Wages: We are proud that over 90% of our operational staff are Indonesian nationals. We are committed to paying wages that are significantly above the regional minimum (UMK Badung) and providing comprehensive benefits, including BPJS Kesehatan and Ketenagakerjaan (national health and social security).
- The ‘Bali AI Scholar’ Program: For every 10 paying participants in our flagship workshop, we offer one fully-funded scholarship spot to a promising final-year computer science student or recent graduate from Universitas Udayana in Denpasar. This program is designed to nurture local AI talent and provide them with world-class skills and networking opportunities.
- Supporting Local Artisans: All our workshop materials, from delegate notebooks to farewell gifts, are sourced from local Balinese artisans and social enterprises like Threads of Life. This helps preserve traditional crafts and ensures that the economic benefits of our business are distributed within the community.
- Community Skill-Sharing: Our expert team members volunteer their time to conduct free introductory workshops on digital literacy and AI for local small business owners and community groups in collaboration with local banjars (traditional village councils).
Our commitment to sustainability is not a static policy but an ongoing practice of mindful operation. We regularly review and report on our impact, guided by our core values and our deep respect for the island of Bali.
